🎠Pensacola X Talent Spotlight: Wealthy Guan – From Stage to Haunted Streets 👻
At Pensacola X, our mission goes beyond just highlighting local talent—we are here to connect, unite, and inspire. While we take pride in celebrating our own Gulf Coast community, we also recognize that great talent, fascinating stories, and influential individuals exist far beyond our borders.
That’s what makes Pensacola X special—we are a platform that bridges communities, connects businesses, and brings together the best and most interesting professionals, no matter where they are. We believe in learning from others, sharing incredible journeys, and introducing our audience to talent that inspires us—whether they live in Pensacola or across the country.
This brings us to Wealthy Guan, an actor, martial artist, and haunted tour guide from San Francisco, California. His journey from performing on stage to leading eerie ghost tours is nothing short of captivating. He’s a perfect example of the kind of passion, creativity, and drive that resonates with our Gulf Coast community—and today, we are thrilled to share his story with you.
A Calling That Began in Childhood 🎬
Q: How and why did you get started in your career and industry?
For Wealthy, acting was never just a fleeting interest—it was a calling that began in childhood.
“Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had a passion for acting and performing, even though I’ve always been more of an introvert. I told myself I wanted to be a movie star when I grew up, and that passion never faded. I took drama, acting, and improv classes in school, and over time, I found myself doing short films and live performances.”
But the stage isn’t the only place where he found his voice. He realized that tour guiding was a performance in itself—a chance to connect, to entertain, and to bring stories to life in a way that only true performers can.
“I started working as a tour guide about four years ago, first doing conventional tours. But when I switched to haunted ghost tours, something clicked. There’s something thrilling about watching people react, seeing them get spooked, and knowing that you’re the one creating that experience for them. It’s interactive storytelling at its best.”
Passion, Performance, and a Fighter’s Spirit đźŽđźĄ‹
Q: What is your passion and your ‘why’?
Some people are drawn to one singular passion, but for Wealthy, his love for acting, martial arts, and fitness all intertwine, shaping who he is as an artist and performer.
“Acting has always been a part of me. Ever since I was a kid watching movies, I knew that’s what I wanted to do. There’s something about stepping into different roles, becoming someone else for a moment, and creating something meaningful that draws me in. Despite being an introvert, I love entertaining people. The audience gives me energy.”
His passion doesn’t stop at storytelling—martial arts and action cinema also play a huge role in his ambitions.
“My fascination with martial arts started when I watched legends like Bruce Lee and Jean-Claude Van Damme on screen. I wanted to be like them—powerful, fast, and agile. That led me to train in Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Jiu-Jitsu, and Choy Li Fut Kung Fu. I don’t plan on becoming a professional fighter, but my dream is to be an action movie star. I want to see martial arts cinema make a big comeback like it did in the ’70s and ’80s.”
That drive, that fire—it’s what separates people who simply dream from those who chase their dreams relentlessly.
Lessons from a Storyteller: Advice for Aspiring Tour Guides đź‘»
Q: What advice would you give to someone just starting out in your industry?
Wealthy has spent years refining his craft, and for those looking to step into the world of haunted tours, live performances, or storytelling, his advice is both practical and inspiring.
đź‘» Don’t stress about the script. “New tour guides often get overwhelmed by long scripts, sometimes over 20 pages. My advice? Don’t try to memorize it word for word. Instead, learn the key details and make the story your own.”
đź‘» Master the art of improvisation. “A great tour guide—or any performer—knows how to think on their feet. Guests will ask unexpected questions, things will go wrong, and you need to be quick. Practicing improv can help tremendously.”
đź‘» Be real. Be human. “People don’t want to hear a robotic recitation. They want to feel engaged, to believe in the story you’re telling. Find your own way of delivering the content—make it your own. That’s what makes it special.”
Whether it’s guiding a haunted tour, performing on stage, or stepping in front of a camera, the key is authenticity.
